Tomorrow (Thursday, 2/17/2011) we will be announcing some of the final steps in separating the BioIT Alliance from Microsoft. Here is what we?ve done and where the BioIT Alliance is going:
What we?ve done:
- The BioIT Alliance is a separate organization, incorporated in the State of Oregon as a non-profit, standards development organization
- Is independently funded by the member organizations of the Alliance, receiving no more (or less) funding from Microsoft than other organizations
- Moved the BioIT Alliance website from Microsoft hosting to hosting provided by a company called Global Inventures
What we?re doing:
- Renaming the Alliance to enhance the appearance of the Alliance as a separate entity
- Monthly webinars by member (sponsors & associate) companies ? and others ? on the state of innovation in Translational Medicine
- Starting Working Groups focused on developing standards for moving information from the bedside to the bench
It is an exciting time for the BioIT Alliance, but given that this post is being hosted on a Microsoft property, you understand that this needs to be the last post.
